Begin by starting with a clean jersey. Fold the sports jersey in the manner you want it displayed in the frame. Measure the shirt when it is folded by width and height. This will help you select the type of frame to appropriately fit. Add one inch on all sides of the jersey for better display. If you are going to use a matt to surround the shirt, add the width of the matt in addition to the extra inch of the jersey.
Select the coordinating color of matt to compliment the sports jersey. You may want to select white if the color of the jersey is not predominately white since this is an all around good color. Select a frame that is strong and durable in the right measurements. Make sure the frame has the proper mounting devices that will hold the frame securely on the wall or shelf.
Place the sports jersey on the area of the matte for framing. With a needle and thread, stitch the jersey to the matt and together using the same color thread as the jersey. Stitch the neckline, sleeves, and sides of the jersey. Cut and knot the threat then secure with clear tape.
Place the completed matt and jersey on the backing board of the frame. Place the protective covering of glass over the jersey and secure to the frame. Secure all the fasteners of the frame and mount the frame on the wall or shelf.
